INTRODUCTION

The Department of Orthodontics is a cornerstone of the dental school, dedicated to the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. This specialized field of dentistry focuses on the supervision, guidance, and correction of the growing and mature dentofacial structures, including those conditions that require the movement of teeth or the correction of malrelationships and malformations of related structures.

The department’s clinical and academic scope encompasses a comprehensive range of treatments, including the management of cleft lip and palate, dentofacial orthopedics, and the use of fixed and removable appliances, clear aligners, and other advanced techniques to achieve optimal oral health, functional occlusion, and facial aesthetics.
