The Department of Forensic Dentistry at KCD is the first dedicated public-sector unit for forensic odontology in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The department applies dental science within medico-legal and investigative frameworks to support the identification of individuals and the examination of dental evidence in civil and criminal matters, and it contributes to disaster victim identification when required.

The department serves as a provincial leader, assisting law-enforcement agencies, medico-legal departments, and judicial authorities in areas including human identification, bite-mark evaluation, age estimation, and dental record interpretation. It also provides structured teaching and clinical exposure to students, promotes research, and advances academic development in this emerging field, thereby enhancing the delivery of justice through scientific expertise.
