    The four year degree program of BDS meets the requirements of the Pakistan Medical Commission. It is a combination of hardcore subjects of dentistry with medical and basic sciences. Clinical training in the dental disciplines is imparted at the Khyber College of Dentistry which is equipped with modern facilities in the field. The specifically designed program aims at exposing the students to real life problems including radical art in clinical dental practice. The students are provided with a solid foundation of basic principles of medicine, diagnostics and surgical techniques to meet the challenges of the future in the field of dentistry.
    The Bachelors of Dental Surgery (BDS) curriculum is a 4 year course. At the end of the training a dental surgeon should be able to:
    • Make an accurate oral and dental diagnosis.
    • Give local anesthetic.
    • Perform an operation on the teeth and jaws.
    • Take a good required X-Ray.
    • Deal with medico legal cases.
    • Look after the dental health of the community.


    Admission Procedure


    Khyber Medical University (KMU) has been given the task of centralized induction into the medical and dental colleges. Students from inside the country and abroad, apply to KMU for admission into medical and dental colleges giving options of their choice. A candidate desirous of admission in MBBS and BDS course in a public medical and dental institution shall apply to the KMU. The KMU shall process the applications strictly on merit by preparing merit list for the concerned public medical and dental institution.
    The candidate shall apply to KMU for admission by submitting his SSC, HSSC or F.Sc. and his Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) result. The KMU shall prepare a merit by a weightage formula as under:-

    1.    SSC/Matric/Equivalent (10%)
    2.    F.Sc (Pre Medical) / HSSC/ Equivalent. (40%); and
    3.    Medical and Dental Colleges Admissions Test (MDCAT) (50%)

    Provided that no candidate shall be considered eligible on merit if the student has not acquired a minimum of 60% marks in the Admissions Test.

    Once the merit list is prepared, the student along with the nomination letter is required to purchase the KCD prospectus, available at Student Affairs Section of KCD. Students are required to fill in the Form enclosed in the Prospectus, attach the required documents and submit the Form at student Affairs Section.

    Admission Policy


    The Medical/Dental colleges of KPK offer 5-years/4-years courses leading to MBBS and BDS degrees respectively and are affiliated with Khyber Medical University. 
    Admission to the Medical & Dental Colleges for all provincial seats will be finalized by The KMU-Admission Committee (KMU-AC).
    All the students are required to read, know and abide by the rules and regulations mentioned in the prospectus.
    The fee and subscription given in the prospectus are payable by all the students from first year to final year classes. This may be subject to adjustments by the Government from time to time corresponding to inflation and cost of education etc.
    The Dean of college reserves the right to make necessary changes in the syllabi, curricula and examination procedure for BDS students as and when notified by the Pakistan Medical Commission at any time during the course of studies.
    The KCD will endeavor to establish provision for scholarships and other support schemes for students of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA to support meritorious, needy and disabled students in meeting the cost of their education.

    Documents Required


    Applicants must attach with application form attested photocopies of the following certificates and documents.

    The documents & certificates must be attested by a gazetted Government servant. The stamp of the officer must bear his/her full name, designation and current place of duty. Selected candidates shall have to submit all original certificates at the time of interviews/admission.

    The original documents of the selected candidates will be retained by the College concerned and will be returned on leaving the Institution.

    (The application forms and photocopies of the documents submitted by the candidates not selected will not be returned to them).

    1. Two Copies of Detailed Marks Certificate of the examination on the basis of which admission is sought.

    2. An equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen, Islamabad, if the qualifying certificate is from an Institute abroad.

    3. Hafiz-e-Quran certificate from a Registered Madrassa if the candidate claims to be Hafiz-e-Quran. 4. Matirc/Secondary School pass Certificate (Science/Equivalent).

    5. Migration Certificate from the respective board (only from admitted candidates).

    6. (a) Disability registration certificate from social and Welfare Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

    6. (b) Disability medical certificate on prescribed proforma from concerned certified specialist if applying against seats reserved for the disabled.

    7. Two copies of Domicile certificate of the candidate. (Domicile certificate submitted with the Entrance test form will not be changed at a later stage of admission process).

    8. A copy of Domicile certificate of the father of the applicant; if the father is not alive, then the death certificate of the father along with the domicile certificate of the mother has to be submitted.

    9. A copy of Computerized National Identity Card of the candidate or Computerized Registration Form.

    10. A copy of Computerized National Identity Card of the father of the applicant; if the father is not alive, a copy of the National Identity card of the mother or guardian.

    11. A copy of parent's valid OPF Membership card and Foreign Exchange Remittance Card (Valid on the closing date of application form for admission) in case of candidates applying against Overseas Pakistani's Seats.

    12. A copy of attempt certificate from the concerned BISE if the period between SSC and F.Sc. is more than two academic years.

    13. Original Undertaking on judicial stamp paper of Rs.20/- duly attested by Notary Public/Political Agent as per specimen given in the prospectus/admission from (only for admitted candidates).

    14. Three passport size colored photographs of the applicant attested on the back.

    15. Certificate of location of educational institutions from principals/Head Masters of the concerned institutions have to be submitted by the candidates of FATA and backward areas.

    16. The certificate must be countersigned by the EDO and DCO of the concerned district and Political Agent of the agency.

    17. Certificate from the Institution last attended with duration of stay.

    18. In case, the candidate has obtained F.Sc part-I and part-II education from different institutions he/she has to produce a certificate indicating the institution from where F.Sc. Part-I and Part-II have been obtained.
